A Garage Door Company That Shows Its Work

Raul Garage Door Repair Seattle works from Stone Way North and serves homeowners across Seattle and the nearby cities. Below: how a job runs from start to finish, the work we turn down, and what happens after you pick up the phone.

How We Work

A garage door looks simple from the driveway, but the parts that matter, the springs, cables, drums and the opener's safety systems, are the parts a homeowner cannot judge. That makes it easy to be sold the wrong repair. Our answer is to make every job checkable.

Every visit starts with the door disconnected from the opener and lifted by hand, so you can see for yourself whether it is balanced. We show you what we find, quote the repair in writing, and that price does not change unless you approve additional work we have shown you first. Before we leave, we test the automatic reverse and the safety sensors, whatever we were called out for.

Springs are sized by weighing the door, not by copying the size of the old spring, because the old one is often wrong. Doors get heavier when they are insulated, replaced or repainted, and an undersized spring is the most common reason openers fail early.

What We Will and Will Not Do

We will tell you when a part is not needed. A noisy door may need lubrication and rollers, not a new opener. A spring that is out of adjustment does not need replacing. One dented section does not always mean a new door. We would rather do a smaller job and be called again than sell the biggest one.

We will not rush spring or cable work. Torsion springs store a dangerous amount of energy, and we follow the same procedure every time: door clamped, opener unplugged, proper winding bars, and a balance test at the end. That does not change on an emergency call.

We work on residential garage doors and openers. Large commercial roll-up doors and gate operators are specialist jobs, and if yours falls outside what we do, we say so and point you in the right direction.

Where We Work

Our office is at 3627 Stone Way N #203, Seattle, WA 98103, where Fremont meets Wallingford. Most of our jobs are in the Seattle neighborhoods within a short drive, Wallingford, Ballard, Green Lake, Phinney Ridge, Maple Leaf and the rest of the city, and in the cities just beyond it, from Shoreline and Edmonds in the north to Bellevue, Redmond and Renton across the lake and Burien in the south.

The garages change a lot across that area. Older Seattle neighborhoods have small alley garages and basement garages cut into steep lots. The waterfront neighborhoods deal with salt air. The post-war north end has attached ramblers' garages, and the Eastside has two- and three-car garages under HOA rules. Each area page describes what is typical there.

What Happens When You Call

You describe what the door is doing, and we give you a price range on the phone and offer a time window, often within a day or two. Broken springs and doors stuck open are moved up the schedule. The technician arrives inside the window, tests the door and confirms the price in writing before anything is touched.

It helps to know the door's size, whether the opener is on the ceiling or on the wall beside the door, the opener brand if you can see it, and roughly how old everything is. A photo by text of the springs above the door and of the opener is often enough for us to bring exactly the right parts.
